Easy Watercolor Card

This little card is so easy to do, yet it combines several techniques which I love to use. The pumpkin from the Autumn Harvest set is stamped on watercolor paper with black Stazon ink. This ink is great because it is permanent and dries instantly. When you start to use your watercolors the ink won't run. I colored a few strokes of pumpkin with Watercolor Wonder Crayons along the ink lines. Next, I added a little mustard color in the middle. Using my aquapainter, I blended the colors until I was satisfied with them. A little Always Artichoke crayon finished the stem. I added a little Close to Cocoa crayon shading under the pumpkin to ground it. I used my SU ticket corner punch on the watercolor paper as well as on the corners of the pumpkin-colored rectangle, then adhered them together.

The leaf background was made with the jumbo wheel , Leaves A la Carte, using Wild Wasabi ink. Then I took a sponge dauber and colored in the leaves with a few colors of Stampin' Pastels. I mounted that strip to a piece of Old Olive paper, and put it on a folded Certainly Celery card. I chose a retired Happy Thanksgiving stamp for my sentiment. The Autumn Harvest stamp set also has the jack-0-lantern face. I thought about adding it and changing the sentiment to Happy Halloween! Wouldn't that be cute?
