Purely Punched Bird House

This little card was designed by my sister, Cindy Rigel and created by my guest artist Mary K. Hart.
The roof is was made with a 2 1/2" square, cut in half on the diagonal. The scallop trim border punch (# 118402, free Sale-a-bration item with $50 purchase) was used to make the scallop overhang of the roof.
The birdhouse is a 2 1/2" square. The 1 1/4" circle punch made the center opening.
The birds and branches were punched out with the Extra Large 2-step bird punch (117191). The bird's wing was layered with a darker wing underneath to create a shadow. The little berries were made with a 1/4" circle punch. The post is about 3/8" wide.
The beak was paper pieced and a marker was used to make the eye.
Colors used on this card were Real Rust, More Mustard, Garden Green, Ruby Red and Basic Black card stock. Assorted designer papers were used for the background and bird house.
Thanks for letting me share your work, Mary! Your card is beautiful!

Voila birthday for Challenge card

This cute card uses the stamp set Voila. I chose summer sun, real red, and basic black as the main colors and stamped on whisper white. I chose these colors to enter in Cindy Lou's Olympic Challenge.

I used the paper piecing technique for his cuffs, scarf, and the cake. The cake also has crystal effects and glitter to make it very specially decorated!

His jacket and cheeks were shaded with chalks. The birthday sentiment was punched out with the wide oval punch. Then I punched two more wide ovals out of the black paper, cut them in half, and overlapped them to make the piece in the back.

The red and white striped grosgrain ribbon picks up the color again. It is wrapped around the yellow layer and taped in the back. The knot was tied and attached with a glue dot.

I love this little fellow! I hope the stamp set stays around for a long time!

Loads of Love Birthday card

This card is a compilation of ideas I liked on cards I found on Splitcoast Stampers. I would give credit to the artists, but I don't remember who made them. The truck was stamped with black on the Kraft. Then it was stamped on patterned paper, cut out and paper-pieced over the image on the base card. The road is made with the Textured jumbo wheel . The wheels, bumper, and door handle were colored with a silver pen. My stamping group made this card and they had a lot of fun with it!
Supplies: Kraft, Basic Black, and Bravo Burgundy card stock. Watercolor pencils for the packages, Weathered patterned paper (retired).

A Little Birdie Told Me...

This card uses the Parisian Breeze specialty designer paper. The more I use it, the better I like it! The colors are great!

I stamped the bird and sentiment on whisper white and cut it square. Then I paper pieced the bird's body, covering up the part that I cut off when I squared up the card. The flower from the Pretties Kit was tinted with Baja Breeze ink and a sponge. I added a half pearl for the flower center. Colors used include Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, and Kraft.

I decided to add some piercing on the Kraft paper along the top and bottom of the card.

True Friend flap card

A flap card is lots of fun to make. I used the True Friend stamp set for this one. The circle embellishment serves as a closure. The large flower is stamped in Kiwi Kiss, and the smaller one is in Rose Red. The Raspberry Tart designer paper covers the front. I used paper piercing around the flap and connected the holes with a marker. The True Friend sentiment was inked with a marker so only a portion of the stamp was used. It is punched out with the small oval punch and sponged around the edge with Rose Red ink.

True Friend card

I've had this True Friend stamp set a long time and rarely use it. I love the blossoms and wanted to use them in the background. The card base is So Saffron, layered up with More Mustard, then the glossy background. The technique on the background is called emboss resist. Here's how it was done:

I brayered the glossy card stock with So Saffron ink. Then I stamped the large blossoms in VersaMark and embossed them with clear E.P. I stamped a few other flowers in More Mustard ink, then brayered again with the So Saffron ink over it all. I rubbed the excess ink off the embossed flowers, then I took a sponge dauber and added More Mustard ink in the large flower centers to make them darker.

The focal point flower is stamped in So Saffron ink and the edges of the card are sponged with More Mustard. It is layered on a More Mustard card. I used the scallop edge punch to make a little border at the bottom. I also used some paper piercing at the top of the flower and on the scallop edge. The flower center was accented with a half pearl from the Pretties Kit. I finished the card with a piece of creamy 7/8" organdy ribbon. Inspiration for this card came from one I saw here.

Paper Piecing Technique

This card was made with paper piecing. The birds were stamped on the card, then stamped again on the designer paper. The bodies were cut out and applied to the stamped image on the card. I love this color combination---Groovy Guava and Certainly Celery. The littlest bird is stamped on coordinating real rust D.P.

Inside, the card can have the greeting of your choice, as this stamp set (A Little Birdie Told Me...) offers a choice of several sentiments. This card is embellished with a soft green organdy ribbon tied around the card.
