Great Friend brayered background

I decided to try the Splitcoast challenge SC225 for this card. The layout shows 2 long panels and 2 short ones. I brayered the top of my whisper white card with a rubber brayer and Cool Carribean ink. I love that color! Next, I brayered the bottom of the card with Green Galore ink. The butterflies were stamped in Taken with Teal ink, and the leaves at the bottom were stamped in teal and green galore.

I cut the card into 4 panels and layered them on the teal cards. The sentiment was stamped in teal also, and layered on teal paper, which I cut out. The green square has leaves stamped in green galore, and it is sponged on the edge.

Although this photo doesn't show it, the leaves are also stamped inside along the bottom.

One extra butterfly was stamped, cut out, and glittered. It is attached with a dimensional. Sorry, the glitter doesn't show up! The photo is a little darker than I would like, but I'm happy with the way the card turned out. Hope you like it, too!

God!s Beauty butterfly

I've been wanting to do something with this lovely butterfly for several weeks. It is a Level 1 Hostess set. I thought a brayered background would be nice for this one.

First, I stamped the butterfly in Jet Black StazOn ink. Then I worked on the background. I brayered the sky with Cool Carribean ink. I tried to leave a light area over the butterfly. Next, I worked on the green part. I started out with Gable Green, then deepened the color with deeper shades of green, ending with Garden green as the darkest value. Then I used my finger to apply chalks to add even more depth in color. I also added dark blue chalk to the edge of the card in the sky area. The pink color above the butterfly was made with red chalk, smoothing it in with my fingers. I added grass from the Inspired by Nature stamp set with Garden Green ink. The little flowers on some of the blades of grass were hand drawn with a fine marker.

The butterfly was colored with markers. This was really a fairly quick card to make. The brayering goes fast, and that's the hardest part.

Thanks for visiting.

Here's another card using part of the Harvest Home image. I just love the Inspired by Nature set, and I think the two sets go nicely together. This card is actually cased from another stamper, (I don't rememer where I saw it, ) but I made a few changes and changed the colors.

The card base is Really Rust, layered on top with More Mustard. The top layer is Very Vanilla, which was brayered with So Saffron. I then punched out a 1" circle from a Post-it-Note, placed it on the card, then brayered with Pumpkin Pie. Next I sponged with Bravo Burgundy along the edges. The grass is stamped in Basic Black.

The pumpkins from Harvest Home were stamped in black StazOn ink, then colored in with a combination of Pure Color Pencils and markers. They are backed with dimensionals to make them stand out a bit. I love this combination of brayer and sponging techniques. Hope you do too!
