Spring Song on Birch Bark

This has been one of my favorite bird sets for some time. This little bird was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and colored with Stampin' Pastels.
Some bits and pieces of birch bark and dried twigs add a little touch of nature to the card.
The Confetti Cream card stock was torn and sponged heavily to add dimension. The background layer of Sage Shadow card stock was stamped with the retired Weathered background stamp. It was also sponged randomly with Chocolate Chip ink. The corner ticket punch was used on the corners before layering on a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock.
The card base is also Confetti Cream.
The Spring Song stamp set is on page 102 of the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog is available for $15.95, or as a free set for the Sale-a-bration promotion with a $50. purchase through March 31. If you like cards with birds you'll want to add this stamp set to your collection!
Hope you have a wonderful First full Day of Spring today!

God!s Beauty butterfly

I've been wanting to do something with this lovely butterfly for several weeks. It is a Level 1 Hostess set. I thought a brayered background would be nice for this one.

First, I stamped the butterfly in Jet Black StazOn ink. Then I worked on the background. I brayered the sky with Cool Carribean ink. I tried to leave a light area over the butterfly. Next, I worked on the green part. I started out with Gable Green, then deepened the color with deeper shades of green, ending with Garden green as the darkest value. Then I used my finger to apply chalks to add even more depth in color. I also added dark blue chalk to the edge of the card in the sky area. The pink color above the butterfly was made with red chalk, smoothing it in with my fingers. I added grass from the Inspired by Nature stamp set with Garden Green ink. The little flowers on some of the blades of grass were hand drawn with a fine marker.

The butterfly was colored with markers. This was really a fairly quick card to make. The brayering goes fast, and that's the hardest part.

Thanks for visiting.

A Little Birdie ...Pull Up front

This little card has a surprise on the front. The Top Note card pulls up to reveal the message. I left the inside of the pink card blank for a handwritten message.
Techniques used:
Coloring with Pastels, sponging.
Supplies:
A Little Birdie Told Me stamp set
Pretty in Pink , Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss card stock
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Raspberry Tart DSP, 1 1/4" Pink Pirouette Grosgrain ribbon, glue dots.

I just love this Designer paper! It goes with almost everything.

A Little Birdie full view

This view shows the bottom of the top note card when it is pulled out of the pocket.

The little bird's hat was stamped on DSP and cut out. The bird was colored with chalks.

Hope you enjoy it!

Measure of a Life inside

Here's what a closeup looks like. You can see the detailed paper punching on the Kiwi layer. Also, I stamped the little dragonfly from Organic Grace inside . I like to carry the design inside if I possibly can.

The dragonfly has glittered wings. I think that little touch adds so much to the card. The ribbon is from Oriental Trading. This is a stamp set I keep returning to. I love making cards that incorporate a nature theme.
