Wetlands in Watercolor

This goose stamp is the perfect image to use for water coloring.  It fits on a small piece of water color card stock and is a quick and easy project.

Pun Fun Kitty

I'm having a lot of fun with the Pun Fun stamp set.  I chose the cat to use on a birthday card for my granddaughter.  She has a cat named Boots that is black with white feet.  I tried to color this one so it looks like hers.  I'm not sure she will see any similarity, but I gave it my best try!

My idea for the layout came from a card I saw on Split Coast Stampers by MrsBoz.  I added the Happy  Birthday greeting by using a brad through the ribbon.  The greeting is from the On Your Birthday stamp set.  (I omitted the 'o from one of the stamps.)
The stitching around the main image is hand-drawn.

Autumn Splendor

This pretty stamp set is available in the new Holiday Mini catalog.

The largest leaf image from the Autumn Splendor set was stamped on watercolor paper with StazOn ink. It was colored with ink refills and an Aqua Painter, and layered on a piece of Only Orange cardstock. The olive green dsp was used for the Top Note die cut. It was sponged with Old Olive ink.

The little acorns also stamped on watercolor paper and were shaded with really rust and only orange inks.
A touch of orange ribbon completes this card.

Soft Summer

Soft Summer is the name of this lovely flower stamp. It is stamped in Black StazOn ink on watercolor paper. The coloring was done with olive, mustard, ruby red markers, and an Aqua Painter.

Manhattan Flower

I finally had a chance to try this lovely embossing die. I love it! This is so elegant and can be completed in 10 minutes or less.

I embossed the roses in my Big Shot, then colored them in with my Aqua Painter and ink refills for Bashful Blue and a small amount of Baja Breeze. I wet the petals with my Aqua Painter before applying the ink. I did allow for drying time before stamping the sentiment from Great Friends at the top in Baja Breeeze.

A length of narrow white organdy ribbon around the bottom added a finishing touch. The card front was layered on Bashful Blue paper.

I had so much fun with this card. I can hardly wait to try another one with a different technique.

God's Beauty simple flower

This simple but elegant card is from the God's Beauty hostess set. It was stamped in StazOn black ink on Whisper White card stock. The flower and leaves were colored with an Aqua Painter and ink refills. The leaves were shaded with red pastels and a sponge dauber. After cutting out the flower it was curled with a bone folder. A rhinestone brad was added to the flower center. It was attached with a dimensional. The sentiment was stamped in black StazOn also.

The frame was cut and embossed with the rectangle nestabilities and layered onto a Certainly Celery card. I'm really loving this stamp set!

Bloomin' Beautiful friends card

I've loved this poppy since I first saw this stamp set! It colors so nicely and always has a clean, crisp look. It was colored with reinkers and an aqua-painter.

The flower is stamped on a half of a top note die cut, trimmed around the perforated line, then layered on another top note cut out of black card stock. The background of the card looked too white for me, so I added a sprinkling of Itty Bitty Backgrounds. The corner punch was layered in red and black, as well as the sentiment from the hostess set, Best Yet.

This is a great card for a birthday, or almost any occasion.

Sock Monkey card

This Sock Monkey card brings back memories of the sock monkeys my aunt used to make. They always looked so silly that they were funny! This little fellow is stamped in black StazOn ink and colored with markers and the Aqua Painter. The balloon is cut out, and the balloon string is actually a very thin strip of card stock. Our Stampin' Up! table top paper cutter does a great job of cutting the tiniest sliver of paper! I used a kraft knife to make slits on both sides of the left arm, and slipped the paper string through the slits. A piece of scotch tape on the back of the card holds it in place. The Just for You sentiment is punched out with the small oval punch and backed with a red oval from the larger oval punch. The background paper is the cute check pattern from the designer series Bella Rose papers. I usually paper-piece this monkey because I like to see different patterns on him, but this coloring technique was must faster, and I do like the effect! Hope you do too!

Organic Grace with scallops

This layout is one I found on a blog by Connie Babbert. It uses the new scallop border punch. Using a square that measures 2 3/4", just punch out each side, but leave the connecting piece on each corner.

I stamped the focal point flower from the new Hostess set, Organic Grace, in black StazOn ink on watercolor paper. I colored it with a turquoise ink refill and an Aqua painter. The thin turquoise square around the flower is from the retired set, Simple Shapes. The flower center is colored with an Apricot Appeal marker, then colored it with a VersaMark pen and embossed with clear E.P. The flower is attached to a larger square of Tempting Turquoise. The little bee comes from the Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set. I love that little bee! He is colored with Summer Sun and Basic Black Markers. I thought later of covering him with crystal effects, but maybe I'll do that next time!

I dyed some white grosgrain ribbon by pulling the ribbon over the Cool Carribean ink pad with a sponge dauber on top to hold it in place. The ribbon was pulled through the holes in the scalloped piece and tied in a knot.

The card base is Cool Carribean. The next layer up is whisper white card stock. I used the wheel, It's Beautiful, and Cool Carribean ink to make the background paper. The scallop edge punch was used on the bottom edge, as it also was for the vellum card stock layer on top. The cute flower brads at the top of the card came from my stash, and manufacturer is unknown. I hope you enjoy this card as much as I did when I made it! Have a wonderful day!

Oh, So Lovely poppy card

I just got around to mounting this stamp set, Oh, So Lovely.
I thought I'd try this poppy with a little watercoloring and markers. The flower is stamped with black StazOn ink on a piece of watercolor paper. The neat thing about watercolor paper is how it accepts the color. First, I used my Aqua Painter to wet the blossom area. Using my Real Red marker, I followed the edge of the flower. Using the Aqua Painter I pulled the color into the rest of the flower. I left the center uncolored. When dry, I used my YoYo Yellow marker to color in the center. I followed the stem lines with an Old Olive marker.
To assemble the card, I layered the image on a piece of black card stock, then again on a Going Gray card. I used my Mat Pack and paper piercing tool to make the decorative edge along the right side and bottom of the watercolor piece. Then I repeated the red color in the flower by punching out a red corner with the SU corner punch.
The whole piece was attached to a folded confetti white card which measures 3 1/4" x 6 1/2".
This set has two other long stemmed images which I plan to work on soon!

Bloomin' Beautiful Single Stem

I found this lovely layout in the SU catalog. I changed the sentiment and colors. This is the easiest card to make! The background is the Canvas stamp using Baja Breeze ink and paper. Kiwi Kiss paper is layered on the bottom. I stamped the flower from the Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set on watercolor paper using black StaZon ink. I colored it with Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss ink refills and an Aqua Painter. After cutting it out I attached it to the edge of the Kiwi Kiss paper. The sentiment is from the retired set, Blossoms Abound. This card measures approximately 3 1/4" wide by 5 1/2" tall.

Garden Silhouettes Watercolor

Here's a share of one of my favorite stamp sets, Garden Silhouettes. I love this lacey-looking flower! I started with a piece of watercolor paper and spritzed it with water, then added pink, cool carribean, yellow, and celery colors with my aqua painter. When this piece had dried, I stamped and embossed the image with black E.P. It was layered on a Cool Carribean card, then again on a black card. Pink scallops were added on top and below the focal point. The base card, Certainly Celery,was and run through the cuttlebug with a dotted swiss embossing folder. I knotted a pink taffeta ribbon and slipped it through the hodgepodge hardware piece before wrapping it around the focal point. It was attached to the tent-folded card base and finished! So elegant, yet really a fairly easy card! I love the square card look....don't you?

Embrace Life

Here's my newest creation! I just mounted my Stampin' Up! Embrace Life stamp set and wanted to create something with a new technique. I colored the flower and stems with Twinkling H-2 O's that I've had for two years. I've been wanting to use them but just got around to finding a project to use them on. Supplies for this card include the following: Watercolor paper, Marigold Morning and Real Red card stock, Ginger Blossom designer paper, Aqua painter, Ticket corner punch, Earth Elements buttons, White Gel pen, Crystal Effects, and of course, my Twinkling Waters collection of colors! The flower has been cut out and mounted with dimensionals. I added the gel pen dots on the stamens, then topped off with the Crystal Effects. Snappy Birthday card

I love these colors together. . . Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, and a touch of blue. For the layout I chose TechnoStamper's challenge #16. This is a fun layout and very easy! My Earth Elements buttons were the perfect color, and I tied them up with some blue DMC. The birthday hat has a glittered tassle on top, and the polka dots are colored with a white gel pen. Getting back to the main image, the crab was colored with aqua painters and ink from my markers. I just scribbled on a piece of acetate and picked up that ink with my aqua painter. A little paper piercing on the edges of the ruby red paper added a little more detail. I really like the sentiment at the bottom: a pinch to grow an inch! My dad always said that when I was growing up! He always teased me about needing lots of pinches because I've always been a shortie! This card will be for one of my granddaughters who loves all kinds of creatures! Her birthday is coming up soon.

Heartfelt card

I decided to share a simple and fun card today. This stamp set, Heartfelt Thanks, is designed for watercolors! I misted the stamp lightly then colored on the rubber with a Rose Red watercolor crayon for the blossom and Garden Green for the stem and leaves. Then I misted the stamp very lightly again and stamped on my paper. When it was dry I colored on the coordinating outline stamp with markers and stamped over the image again.

The background of the white card is the large scroll image from Baroque Motifs. It is stamped in VersaMark. I added the sentiment "heartfelt" in Pomegranate ink just under the area where the focal point would be placed. Next, I distressed the edges of the flower card with the distressing tool in the cutter kit and layered it on a piece of Purely Pomegranate card stock. Small silver brads were added to the corners and a little loop of Pomegranate double-stitched ribbon was attached behind the card. This card was inspired by a similar layout by Stampin Kub.
